Angelfall – Book Review

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK!

This has been my favorite YA novel so far of this year. Susan Ee is an absolute genius when it comes to writing YA Dystopian/Urban Fantasy novels.  I can’t even wait to read the next book in the series and I won’t be able to contain my excitement when it do.

The world is overtaken by Angels, who’ve brought both a war and an apocalypse to the modern human world. The main character, Penryn’s sister is captured by the angels. Penryn saves the life of an angel, who helps her try to find and retrieve her sister. They set forth on a  journey to reunite the angel with his clipped wings and to rescue Penryn’s sister.

Penryn was very believable and lovable as a main character and all of her actions were realistic and grounded in the reality of a war-torn/apocalyptic world. She is really a strong, kick-ass heroine that is easy to root for and want to be like.

The book is not that long and I wished it was longer so that I could revel in the world that Ee created for a little bit longer.

Ee creates a very different and unique version of a dystopian/apocalyptic world that is refreshing to see. She also wrote some very gory and grotesque scenes that would have been too much for me, if it not for the amazing story-telling/writing surrounding them.

The end of the book got a little graphic and more science-fiction based then the rest of the book, which was disturbing to read (at least for me), but it really brought the gravity of the situation to the forefront.

I would 100% recommend this book to everyone I know because it is worth the read. It is really that good.
